This popular course is nicknamed "Physics for Poets" both because most students taking it are nonscientists and because the goal is to master concepts more than technical details. In the Fall 1997 THE TV VERSION OF THE COURSE (LECTURE 2) will be taught by Physics Professor Bernice Durand, winner of a Chancellor's Excellence in Teaching Award. 43 videotaped lectures cover three units: Classical Physics (11 lectures), Relativity (17 lectures), and Quantum Physics (15 lectures). | |||||

lectures on videotape The lectures for 107-TV were videotaped in the Spring 1995 live course. They are broadcast on Cable Channel 23 and Channel 4 (Fitchburg) 10:00-11:00 MWF, starting Wednesday, September 3, 1997. Three lectures at a time are broadcast on WHA Cable Channel 11 or Broadcast Channel 21 (called VCR Semester), Fridays 3:00-6:00 am (yes!). These start Friday, August 29, with Lectures 1 and 2. Each Friday's wee hours lectures are for the next week. TV students will benefit from having a VCR. The videotapes are also on reserve and may be viewed in the College, Steenbock, and Physics Libraries, and in the Language Lab (Room 259) in Van Hise Hall. Taped lectures are approximately 60 minutes in length. |
