Physics 308 - Intermediate Laboratory-Electromagnetic Fields and Optics
Physics 308 is a laboratory based course in Electromagnetic Fields and Optics mainly associated with the subject matter of Physics 322 and Physics 325. Physics 308 is the second course in the Intermediate Lab sequence taken by Physics majors except for those who take the combination (Physics307-407) recommended for those students going on to graduate level experimental physics. The current experiments are:
Students generally work with a lab partner and keep a lab notebook which is graded on a weekly basis. There is an emphasis on the proper error analysis of data. The writeup of the Dipole Field Experiment is shown here as a pdf file
Prerequisites: Physics 202 or 208, Physics 322, Physics 325. Physics 205, 241, or 244 are recommended.
