EXAM INFORMATION

PHYSICS 722, ADVANCED CLASSICAL THEORETICAL PHYSICS

General comments:
The exams are designed to test your comprehension of the material covered in lecture, the assigned reading, and the homework problems. They give you a chance (which you may not want!) to demonstrate that you understand the material and can apply it at the appropriate level.

The exam questions typically involve some mixture of calculation -- or the setting up of calculations -- and explanation or description of methods of solution and the associated physical phenomena. The descriptive/explanatory parts can be somewhat open ended. I want to find out what you know and can explain cogently, not what you don't know.

Exam dates:
The three exams will all be hour exams, and will count equally (20 points each) in the final grade for the course. The first two exams will be Wednesday, February 24 and Friday, April 16 during the regular class period. The third exam will be during the final exam period on Monday, May 10, at 12:25 pm in a room to be announced.

Sample exams :
The exams from 1998 should give you an idea of the material covered and the level. The material is being covered in the same order in 1999.
