EXAM INFORMATION
     general instructions

There will also be instructions on the first page of each review.

HEAR THIS! There are three exams on the following dates:
  • EXAM 1 OVER UNIT 1     Tue Oct 7, 7:15-9:15 pm
  • EXAM 2 OVER UNIT 2     Tue Nov 11, 7:15-9:15 pm
  • EXAM 3 OVER UNIT 3     Thu Dec 18, 12:25-2:25 pm

All three exams will be in Room 1300 Sterling Hall on campus.
Room 1313 Sterling is also reserved for any people with special test-taking needs.

All three exams are meant to be hour exams. To avoid unnecessary time pressure, I schedule the rooms for two hours. If you think it will take you longer, and you don't have a letter from the McBurney Center, ask well in advance to be assigned to Room 1313 and explain to me why you think you need it, so we can get to work on your problem.

The third exam is not a comprehensive final exam, but rather a third hour exam. It will be given at the assigned final examination time for Lecture 2, not to be confused with the Lecture 1 exam time in the Timetable.

The first two exams will be Tuesday evenings at 7:15 pm, October 7 and November 11. See (4205 Chamberlin or in discussion), call (262-3827), or email me if you have a conflict.

The third exam is Thursday, December 17 AT 12:25 pm.

WARNING! DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL PLANS TO LEAVE BEFORE THEN. THERE WILL BE NO LATE EXAMS GIVEN, EXCEPT FOR VALIDATED MEDICAL OR FAMILY EMERGENCIES. EARLY EXAMS ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO SCHEDULE, AS ALL WHO WANT THEM MUST TAKE THEM AT THE SAME TIME.

Arrangements for any alternatives to the evening exam times or special conditions for taking exams must be made well in advance! See me soon if you have serious test anxiety, or other problems which necessitate special exam arrangements.

The first two exams will probably be 60% objective, 40% short answer/essay. The third exam will be all or mostly objective. Your review before each exam is a practice exam (with answers), to help you prepare for the exam.

HEAR THIS! You may bring one 8½ X11 page of notes (both sides) to each exam. The notes must be your own, not printouts of my web information or homework solutions.

Before exams I will hold ``open house'' office hours, to be announced by email and Web (on the review page). I also have a review session the evening before every exam, instead of the regular Monday night discussion. You will have printed out and worked through a review sheet, and we will go over that plus other questions at the review session.

HEAR THIS! There will be a review session the night before each exam, all in Room 1300 Sterling Hall:
  • REVIEW SESSION 1     Mon Oct 6, 7:00-8:30 pm
  • REVIEW SESSION 2     Mon Nov 10, 7:00-8:30 pm
  • REVIEW SESSION 3     Wed Dec 17, 7:00-8:30 pm

Click on the bars at the upper left for the reviews, which serve as practice exams.
