LECTURE 14
     questions after lecture

first go back and answer these

now think about these

  • Give three examples of refraction of light.
  • How do we know that light is a wave? I want the pre-Maxwell answer.
  • What did Maxwell say the medium is for light waves? What is the medium for light waves? Is it material?
  • What was being illustrated when I told you to pinch your fingers close together and look through them? What was the point of making a very small slit?
  • Who or what detects the nonvisible frequencies of light? Example: your radio detects FM.
  • Give an example of the Doppler effect for vehicles, sound and light.
  • Give an example of a shock wave for water and for sound.
