LECTURE 31
     questions before lecture

think about these

  • Can you swing a given length pendulum with several amplitudes, or only one?
  • When you increase the pitch of your voice (speak higher), does your voice get louder?
  • Give an example of a device which detects light and converts it into an electric current (hint: your camera has one).
  • Which has higher energy, a red photon or a blue photon?
  • If an electron is bound, how much energy does it take to just exactly get it free?
  • In all the equations we've had, there have appeared five fundamental constants of nature. Can you figure out what they are?
