LECTURE 41
goals and outline
lecture title
text pages
Ch 19, pp 239-240 and 245-248. I have also written up supplementary notes for the subject.
lecture goals
- Learn what gauge bosons are in the quantum field theory of the four fundamental interactions (forces).
- Learn how each interaction has one or more peculiarities which make it different from the other three interactions.
- Learn which particles feel which interactions and what properties determine whether an interaction is felt. Learn what happens to the four interactions' couplings at high energy.
- Understand more about the Standard Model.
- Introduce the Higgs boson, which has a different role from the gauge bosons.
