questions before lecture
think about these
- What determines the outcome of a collision between two objects?
- How do you use the word momentum in everyday speech? What does it mean as you use it?
- Is it possible to have motion before a collision but not after?
- Have you ever experienced stepping onto or off a boat and having it scoot out ahead of or behind you? That's an example of conservation of momentum.
- Have you heard of Descartes? In what context?
- How about Huygens?
